Not a compliance determination
toolsforedi.com does not certify EDI documents or determine compliance with X12, UN/EDIFACT, HIPAA, a directory release, an implementation guide, law, contract, payer requirement, or trading-partner rule. Syntax that formats successfully can still be incomplete, semantically wrong, rejected, or unsafe to exchange.
Parser and validation limits
Delimiter detection relies on ISA fixed positions, UNA service characters, or documented heuristics. Envelope and segment-count checks evaluate only the relationships listed in their evidence. They do not evaluate every conditional element, code list, loop, qualifier, acknowledgment rule, or partner convention. Malformed input can reduce the reliability of every downstream result.
Transformation limits
JSON and CSV outputs represent syntax rather than an industry-standard business model. Values stay primarily textual; loops and business meanings are not inferred. Split transactions exclude outer envelopes and are not automatically exchange-ready. Comparisons show syntactic differences and can align repeated segments in more than one reasonable way.
Redaction risk
The redaction tool masks values only in the exact segment tags you select. Sensitive data can appear in other segments, free text, control identifiers, filenames, metadata, screenshots, or downloadable results. Redaction is not anonymization. Inspect the entire result and follow your organization’s data-handling requirements before sharing it.
Independent verification required
Important output should be reviewed by a qualified person and tested in an appropriate non-production workflow. Keep authoritative originals, use official specifications and current partner guidance, and do not rely on this service as the only control for production transactions, payment, healthcare, logistics, tax, legal, or security decisions.
As-is service
The service is provided for informational and convenience purposes, as is and as available, without warranties of accuracy, completeness, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law, while rights and liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.
