Assumptions & limitations
Assumptions
- The detected segment terminator is correct.
- Inclusive counts start at ST or UNH and end at its paired SE or UNT.
Limitations
- A fragment without paired headers and trailers can only return its total physical segments.
- Nested or badly reordered transaction markers are reported but not repaired.
04 / FAQ
Questions about segment counts
Does the total include envelope segments?
Yes. The document total includes every parsed segment; transaction results separately count ST–SE or UNH–UNT ranges.
Are blank lines counted?
No. Whitespace-only pieces introduced by formatting are ignored.
